Treasured Time

I can't believe today is the 20th. Time is flying by and I feel like I've been here for months! Work is going great, definitely learning a lot. Though I will never complain about being in a 1 hour and 15 min class again because Monday I sat in on a 4 hour meeting which was continued for another 4 hours and 45 mins today. Needless to say I had to do lots of walking afterwards. The meeting was really interested, we were reviewing merchandise for Summer 2013 before they start producing mass amounts, consulting the pricing and see what detailing we could take away to lower our LDP's and raise our gross margins. It reminds me a lot of a CAD class I took where we reviewed fabric costing and detail pricing. I also find it surprising because I always thought I would enjoy more of the creative end of fashion but I've surprised myself and have enjoyed the business analytics and numbers.

Yesterday we had an intern orientation where we met all the other interns working for Nautica...finance, e-commerce, marketing, legal, licensing, etc. Surprisingly there were 10. But it was really great to meet people and everyone was from everywhere. I met one girl who goes to University of Florida and we decided that we could be friends this summer ;).

Last night, a good friend, Michael took me to Highline Park. It's a park that had been built over an old subway station and goes along the boardwalk. It was beautiful walking along as the sun was setting and enjoying some artwork along the way...

I also met another girl who goes to Auburn and we've become close since she's the only intern on my floor and is in production so we're in meetings together. We got in a really good conversation today about how great it's been to get out of our comfort zone being in New York where there are so many beliefs and different types of people. The diversity really allows you to become your own person and think for yourself. By being on your own up here, you find yourself and grow up. This opportunity of being here has allowed me to mature so much more than I could have imagined in such a short time and it's become an experience that I treasure so much.
